Gamers are in for an adventure with this new augmented reality (AR) game that will call all Ghostbusters fans to action if there’s something strange in their neighborhood.
Just like the mobile game Pokémon Go that took the world by storm, players of Ghostbusters World will use their smartphones to find and capture “specters, ghosts, and apparitions.” Described as “an all-new state-of-the-art augmented reality game,” players will be able to battle and capture ghosts from “all dimensions of the franchise,” including those from the Ghostbuster films, TV shows, comic books, and video games. Things are about to get spookier than usual as new ghosts were also created especially for the game, according to IGN.
Imagine walking down the streets and you see a ghost pop on the screen of your mobile phone while playing Ghostbusters World. Who you gonna call?
Here’s the teaser trailer of the game:
The game is developed by NextAge in collaboration with publishing partner FourThirtyThree Inc. (4:33), Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Ghost Corps. It was also part of Google’s ARCore announcement and a demo is on display at the Google Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
Ghostbusters World will be available for Android and iOs users, but the release date and price is yet to be announced. More information will be revealed at the Game Developers Conference this upcoming March.
The official Facebook Page of Ghostbusters World recently shared a sneak peek of its pre-alpha gameplay and it looks freaking awesome!
So ready your costumes and your proton pack because we’re about to catch them specters, poltergeists, full-roaming vapors, and all the strange things in the neighborhood. Pick up the phone, you know who to call!
