Design is a way of life, a point of view – as American modernist, Paul Rand, once said. Design takes all forms as it combines beauty and functionality to make life more manageable – and to some extent, more meaningful. Indeed, from the beginning of civilization to the developments of the modern age, design has come a long way. But one particular approach, known as experiential design, takes design to a whole new level by making a specific impression and establishing a deeper and more memorable connection with its users. Experiential design is a highly relevant and exceptionally fascinating topic since today’s society calls for unconventional ideas and the emphasis on meaning.
On its 42nd anniversary, the University of the Philippines Design Core presents Design Dialogues: Experiencing Design – an interactive seminar on experiential design, open to all design students and professionals, as well as design enthusiasts. UP Design Core, the only academic organization in the University of the Philippines that caters to interior design students, aims to increase the awareness of interior design in the country and promote camaraderie among fellow design students from various schools.
This year, the organization goes for a bigger and bolder event with Mr. Frenjick Quesada, Design Principal of Design HQ, as the main speaker, Mr. Mio Infante, President of Sceneshop Inc., and Ms. Zenas Pineda, Events Designer of Zenas Pineda & Co., among the panelists. Joining the featured speakers, the event will be moderated by Dr. Adelaida V. Mayo, a senior professor of interior design at UP Diliman. The symposium will be held on the 3rd of March 2018, Saturday, at the SMX Convention Center – Function Room 3, SM Aura Premier, 8 Mckinley Parkway, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
With the undeniable talent, years of experience, and sparkling credentials of the speakers, Design Dialogues is definitely a learning opportunity you cannot miss. Aside from the insightful talks to be delivered by the main speaker and panelists, a simple workshop will be conducted to serve as a venue for the participants to apply what they have learned that afternoon. Exciting raffle prizes will also be given out to lucky audience. Everyone is guaranteed satisfaction from the lectures and workshop, as well as the tons of giveaways. On a more important note, delicious snacks will be provided! To know more about experiential design and maximize your Saturday afternoon, join us in Design Dialogues: Experiencing Design.
