UST Artlets Economics Society gears up for Economics Week

With the Artlets Economic Society’s (AES) tradition of producing well-rounded individuals since 1975, the organization is gearing up for its Economics Week to celebrate excellence and achievements for over four decades with fun-filled events, competitions, and activities.

From February 24 to March 2, a load of activities is in store for Ekonomistas as the week will be filled with engaging and challenging activities held inside the University of Santo Tomas (UST). The schedule of the events is listed below.

The week-long celebration will begin on February 24 with ALTERNATIVE CLASS: VLOGGING—an increasingly popular social media activity combining the concepts of “video” and “blogging”. The workshop aims to encourage interested students to the basics of making creative and eye-catching video blogs. This event will be held at the UST Engineering Auditorium from 2-6PM.

February 26 – RECAP: STATE OF THE AES ADDRESS
The executive board of AES will hold an event to report the accomplishments from last semester and discuss future plans for the remaining months of the academic year. This event will be held at the Engineering Conference Hall from 1-5PM.

February 27 – ECON FACTOR
Economics students will brawl up against each other to showcase their competitive edge and academic talents. The battle of the bests will take place at the UST Education Auditorium from 1-4PM.

February 28 – ECONMAZING RACE: EKONOMISTAS ON THE RUN
As the saying goes, the brain works well with active lifestyle. This event will test the well-being of students on analytical problem solving and physical strength towards reaching the victory. The challenge will be held at the UST Grounds from 8AM-1PM.

March 1 – ECONOMICS GOT TALENT
Outside the walls of a typical classroom, the students aim to bring out their artistic side and unleash their special talents. This event will be take place on Albertus Magnus Auditorium from 1-10PM.

March 2 – ECON 101: SHS PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITY
With the entrance of the pioneer batch of the Senior High School (SHS) graduates for the next academic year, this seminar will invite Grade 11 SHS students taking up Humanities and Social Sciences strand (HUMSS) and Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) strand to promote the AB Economics program and its curriculum, courses and job opportunities. This seminar will be held at UST Central Seminary Gym from 7AM-5PM.

The UST Artlets Economics Society, tracing its humble beginnings 42 years ago has continuously evolved to become a premiere college-based organization in the university and was able to produce the likes of former senator Joey Lina, former solicitor-general Florin Hilbay and other committed, competent, and compassionate individuals serving various sectors of the society.
