Well, the wait is ALMOST over. J.K. Rowling’s official website, pottermore.com, shared several juicy tidbits about the upcoming sequel, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, that will surely keep you on the edge of your seats.

1. Jude Law will portray the young Albus Dumbledore.

We’ve always known Dumbledore with his signature long silver hair and beard, but we’ve always wondered what he’d look like when he was younger. Warner Bros. released a photo showing Jude Law dressed up as Dumbledore with a short beard, and long corduroy coat–making him look stylish and classy.

2. We’ll finally get to meet Newt’s brother and Leta Lestrange.

If you remember, Leta Lestrange (Zoe Kravitz) made a brief appearance in the previous film and now, we will know who’s this mysterious woman and her relationship to Newt and his older brother, Theseus (Callum Turner).

3. From Quidditch to the wizarding circus.

One of the main attractions in Rowling’s wizarding world is Quidditch. And we bet you wondered if we’ll get to see more of that too in Fantastic Beasts. Instead, we’ll be introduced to a new magical mode of entertainment–the wizarding circus!

4. The magical curse, Maledictus, has been revealed.

A new type of magical curse has been introduced through actress Claudia Kim’s character. Her character is a “Maledictus” who carries a blood curse that enables her to transform into a beast. Unlike an Animagus, Maledictus cannot choose what kind of animal he or she will turn into. And just from the name itself, it sounds evil!

5. Nicolas Flamel will make an appearance.

Remember the alchemist who discovered the Philosopher’s Stone and achieved immortality in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone? We know that Nicolas Flamel (Brontis Jodorowsky) is good friends with Albus Dumbledore, so it looks like the young Dumbledore and the young Flamel will have a scene together.

6. New characters will join the cast.

Of course our protagonist, Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) will return for this sequel with his friends, Jacob (Dan Fogler), Tina Goldstein (Katherine Waterston), and Queenie Goldstein (Alison Sudol). We’ll also see MACUSA President Seraphina Picquery (Carmen Ejogo) and Supervisor Abernathy (Kevin Guthrie) once again.

But new characters will also be joining the group namely: Spielman (Wolf Roth), Bunty (Victoria Yeates), Torquil Travers (Derek Ridell), Rosier (Poppy Corby-Tuech), and Arnold Guzman (Cornell S. John).

Though little is still known about these new characters, Travers and Rosier do ring a bell. They were also the last names of two Death eaters from Harry Potter books. Hmm.

7. It will be all about Grindelwald.

As the title suggests, the sequel will focus on Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) who was the most notorious wizard before Lord Voldemort. To know what crimes he committed and what’s his intention is in wreaking havoc in the wizarding world, we have to wait and see next year.

8. J.K. Rowling penned the script again.

If those seven things haven’t convinced you yet, well, don’t fret because we’re in good hands. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald marks Rowling’s second screenplay with director David Yates.

Looks like we’re off to another fantastic start with this duo!
