ABOUT THE SHOW
Paglisan is a non – narrative, contemporary dance production composed of several vignettes, each being a personal reflection of colonial mentality in the Philippines.
SYNOPSIS:
The production follows a journey of a Filipino, Juan, through a series of dance vignettes showcasing my reflection on the factors that have contributed to the state of colonial mentality in today’s society. Juan is brought to the colonized Philippines seeing how the Spanish and American colonizers have greatly influenced us. Juan is then brought to the present where he sees how great their influences have affected us. Though Juan tries to get the Filipinos to be united and restore the people’s love for the country, the damage has already been done. Juan ends up being dragged by society away from his dream towards a better country.
