Nationwide education fairs to prepare students post K-12 program

After the successful pocket senior high fairs in Metro Manila held last March, Edukasyon.ph gears up for nationwide education fairs this August to November in which almost 500,000 students will be able to discover education opportunities such as schools or scholarships and gain relevant information that they can use for employment opportunities.

“As the first batch of senior high students graduates next March, it is important that they are equipped with informed choices on whether they are going to college, applying for work, or starting their own business,” Edukasyon.ph founder and Chief Executive Officer Henry Motte-Muñoz said.

“In doing the fairs, we are able to empower students by making higher education opportunities a lot more accessible and reachable through www.edukasyon.ph. Moreover, we want to widen the knowledge of the students on the real-life application of their chosen senior high tracks or college course,” he added.

Starting this August, the education fairs will be held around the country to provide a venue for students and parents to discover career pathways; inquire to senior high schools, colleges, or universities; and apply to these schools.

“It is important that we are giving the students a chance to have a choice as this would affect their future and our future as a developing country,” Motte-Muñoz maintained.

Additionally, there will be a plenary session that would cater Grade 10 and Grade 12 students. The topic that would be discussed to Grade 10 students is the senior high program while the topic for Grade 12 students is divided into choosing the right college degree; getting hired in a job; and starting a small business enterprise.

“In a recent survey by the Department of Labor and Employment, the deficiency or lack of soft skills such as interpersonal, social, and communication skills is a key reason why employers are not hiring people. This is why part of the program in our education fairs is to enhance these soft skills and provide students a guide they can use during job interviews,” the Edukasyon.ph founder said.

The first leg of the Edukasyon.ph education fairs was held at General Santos last August 7-9. There were also fairs in Dasmarinas last August 16-17; San Fernando, Pampanga last August 17-18; Paranaque on August 30-31; and Taytay, Rizal on August 31, and September 01 and 08.

Meanwhile, there will be fairs in Manila this September 26-29. The education fairs will also be held in Baguio on October 2-3; Taguig on October 05; Laoag on October 10-11; Mabalacat on October 11-12; Batac on October 12-13; La Trinidad on October 14; Pasay on October 15; Iloilo on October 21-22; and Imus on October 23-24.

Muntinlupa will also hold an education fair on November 08. This is along with Marikina on November 14-16 and November 21-23; Navotas on November 17; and Binan, Laguna on November 28-30 and December 6-8.

The series of education fairs were made possible with the help of ASUS Philippines, Netopia, Lazada.com.ph, Maynilad, Shopback, Jobstreet, Kalibrr, and John Clements. Local government units and Department of Education – School Division Offices are also working together with Edukasyon.ph to address the education needs of the students.
“Learning from the challenges in our past, there is a need for all of us to provide a venue where students will be guided as they discover the right track fit for them and apply to the right school that would cater their needed education,” Motte-Muñoz said.

“Along with our partners from the private sector and government, we can bring students closer to the right educational opportunities and to scholarships as well. Our online platform is open to all students for free, and we believe this is a service that all students should have access to,” Motte-Muñoz further commented.
