IN PHOTOS: Ogie Alcasid’s “NakakaLokal” concert was a night of OPM madness

In celebration of his 50th birthday, OPM singer-composer Ogie Alcasid held a benefit concert at the Kia Theater last August 25.

The concert, dubbed “NakakaLokal,” paid homage to the OPM industry as Alcasid performed several hit classics with some of his featured guests: Jaya, Yeng Constantino, Erik Santos, Kayla, and Angeline Quinto among others.

He also performed popular songs by Francis M, Bamboo, and Gary V, together with Davey Langit, Lara Maigue, and Basti Artadi. And his “real barkada from La Salle” — Men and Music — made the crowd swoon to some of their generation’s love songs.

But the show wouldn’t be complete without Alcasid’s usual banter with the audience in between performances. He surprised the crowd with a “Korean song” he composed called Taba Ko Na Bes, that made his fans laugh out loud. After which he said, “Among all the songs I performed tonight, this one got the most applause! Ganito pala mga trip niyo.” They just replied with even more laughter.

Ogie Alcasid also proved that he is not just a singer and a performer, but a man with a soft heart for kids. All the proceeds from the concert will go to World Vision, a humanitarian organization that supports over 75, 000 kids nationwide. Alcasid has been an advocate and ambassador of the organization for years, so when one of the kids he’s sponsoring came to greet him a happy birthday, he became a little emotional.

Ogie Alcasid obviously isn’t afraid to express his emotions in front of his fans. During his special duet performances with his daughter, Leila Alcasid, and with his wife, Regine Velasquez, the father and husband cannot help but express his love for them over and over again, and it made the event extra sweet.

Staying true to his intentions, it was truly a night of OPM madness.
