taMARAWI: Tamaraw para sa Marawi – a back-to-school Thrive Fair for a cause

The Entrepreneurship Club (EClub), one of the premier organizations in Far Eastern University holds a back-to-school thrive fair with the theme “taMARAWI: Tamaraw para sa Marawi” which aims to raise funds for the war-inflicted families in Marawi City. The event started on the first day of classes, August 14, and ended on August 16.

This event was spearheaded by EClub’s Chief Finance Officer Arianne Abiera along with Chief Audit Executive Angelo Base with almost 2 months of planning. This is in partnership with We Are Marawi, a non- profit organization which helps the families and evacuees of the Marawi siege, in order to raise funds through selling “We Are Marawi” shirts.

The fair was a jam-packed activity with more than twenty different booths selling a variety of products.Together with the event’s major sponsors Kojie San, Beauty Elements Ventures Inc., Krispy Kreme, Max’s Restaurant, and Yellow Cab, the fair was visited by almost thirty thousand students and faculty at the FEU grounds.

For three consecutive days, We Are Marawi garnered 16,650 pesos from t-shirt sales alone while another 20% from EClub’s profit from the tent rental fee charged to the concessionaires will be given to FEU for Marawi.

With the goal of fund-raising in mind, the organizers has become very hopeful on the outcome of this activity. According to EClub’s Chief Operating Officer Jane Rosete, “EClub wants to sustain the momentum of Thrive Fair which started a year ago. It would serve as an exposure on the different trends in entrepreneurship and at the same time, helping those who are in need.”

The taMarawi is the first of many activities which will be organized by EClub for this year. Being an organization which focuses on the field of entrepreneurship, EClub wants to increase student awareness on the potential of startup businesses all while contributing to the society. When asked what we will be expecting from EClub this year, CEO Patrick Manuel simply said “Expect that this year will be EClub’s year”.
