This cup of coffee is too beautiful to sip!
Enthusiasts can now share their love for art and coffee in Cafe C Through located in Seoul, Korea. Lee Kang-bin, owner and barista of the said cafe, is recreating masterpieces by Vincent Van Gogh, Edvard Munch, Edgar DeGas, and Leonardo da Vinci on a cup of coffee.
Yup, you read that right. This guy is taking coffee art to another level! He calls his works “creamart”, as he carefully crafts his imitations of these popular paintings on cream, atop your favorite cup of coffee.
According to Kang-bin, he didn’t have any formal education on drawing and started brewing coffee when he was 17, during his mandatory military service. He enjoyed the experience very much that he decided to buy his own machine and set up a cafe for his fellow soldiers in his camp.
Aside from his masterful recreation of “The Starry Night,” Kang-bin also creates his own renditions of famous Disney characters such as Belle and the Beast, Aladdin and Jasmine, Bambi, and Winnie the Pooh.
Some of our favorite characters from books, animes, and movies found their way into Kang-bin’s cup of coffee too!
Kang-bin said that it takes him about 15 minutes to complete a piece of art and every “creamart” costs 7,500 won ($7.50). Customers can also request a personalized cup with their favorite work of art but they need to make a reservation for it though.
So the next time you visit Korea and need a cup of coffee with a twist, make sure to say “annyeong” to Lee Kang-bin in Cafe C Through.
