“The Battleship Island” sets a new record in the Korean Film Industry!

Upon the release of the most-awaited Korean film, The Battleship Island, not only that it quickly tops the box office but it also sets a new record in the Korean Film Industry! It gains the largest premier audience as its viewers come close to 1,000,000 audiences just within Korea in the premier night.

Among the 113 countries where the movie was sold to show, Philippines was one of them including Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Russia and many more.

Under the Japanese colonial rule, the plot revolves around Joseon slaves who want to get away from Hashima island due to forced labor. It shows how Koreans are deprived of their national sovereignty before.

This historical action film also initially earned the spotlight for being filled with star-studded casts: Descendants of the Sun’s Song Joong Ki, Oh My Venus’s So Ji Sub, Hwang Jung Min who is known for starring on an average of three to four films per year & Lee Jung Hyun as one of the top international acts of South Korea. It was directed by Ryu Seung Wan.
