From doodles to dimensions: How Rain Sison turned the cosmos into canvas

“Observersal” was coined by Rain Sison….a play on the words ‘Observer’ and ‘Omniverse’. While the cosmos may be described as a well-ordered whole, it may also be described as a philosophical ‘omniverse’ encompassing everything that exists…all dimensions, universes, multiverses, etc. It may also consist of a variety of colors and the unfathomable shapes and mysterious forms these take. And it will be up to the observer to decipher and come up with their own perceptions of these various forms of existence within a whole.

Amidst this background, Rain Sison’s exhibit consist of artworks that range from what may seem to be void spaces with shapeless forms in the dark, to bright and brilliantly-colored abstractions that break through the darkness and shapelessness.

As a young artist, Rain began by random doodling and sketching in his free time. His supportive parents encouraged him to take up art lessons. Under the tutela`ge of experienced artist and art instructor Maryrose Gisbert, Rain was able to discipline himself into creating self-inspired works of art. He tapped into his own world or universe, instead of incorporating external influences. Ms. Gisbert gave him free rein to his emotions and inspirations, rather than molding him into an artist he may very well be not.

The results are artworks expressive of his thoughts and perceptions. What he probably may not be able to articulate in some other way, his artworks convey volubly.

Through “Observersal”, Rain would want the viewer to observe, and figure out his artworks, and ultimately enjoy these, as he did while working on them.

In the future, Rain hopes to mount more shows, and even venture into figurative artworks, landscapes and cityscapes. As a way of giving back for the goodness he has experienced, he would also like to donate to a charitable cause.

Rain wishes the Observer to see the Omniverse as he does, or as the observer perceives it, and have fun in the process.
