Social media users share astonishment over doctor-influencer’s ‘misaligned’ info

In a now deleted Facebook post, licensed doctor turned content creator Dr. Kilimanguru gained much traction after suggesting that drinking carbonated soft drinks such as Coca Cola should be discouraged, equating the beverage to cleaning products, specifically, Domex, therefore raising doubt.

Platform users questioned his advice and were quick to open discussions online provoking the Dr.’s proposal further, leaving traces of his post on threads in other media forums such as Reddit.

A Reddit publisher wrote that while discouraging the consumption of soda was comprehensible due to its health effects, Kilimanguru’s association of cleaning products in his urge to lessen its ingestion was insensible, emphasizing distrust and noting bemusement that the advice was “Coming from a doctor (pa).”

Thread members commented following suit with the publisher’s discernment on the implications, voicing their stance on the importance of sensible logic with other substances and its usage.

The publication highlighted a greater concern, however, on non-practicing doctors of medicine (MD) possessing unique approaches compared to MDs who are actively practicing. It is especially attributed to their activity on social media playing the roles of health counselors, allegedly misaligning medical guidance and opinion.

Consequently, community members of the same thread accused Kilimanguru of “rage bait” in his content, influencing their distrust towards him regarding medical enlightenment, among other digital users who are followers or likely familiar with his social media platforms.

Kilimanguru has yet to respond to online critics from his previous and now unavailable post, but online community members have continued to raise their suspicion in aims of promoting credible healthcare and medical direction, heightening the need for vigilance in the influence of these forms of media content despite official titles which its users may carry to support their credibility.
