Famous for being a childhood staple back in the 90s to the early 2000s, Ovaltine PH won the hearts of many, only this time for taking immediate action after learning of an unfortunate incident involving a senior citizen who had been scammed with stock of their expired products.
An elderly woman identified as Lola Verginia gained the support of hundreds of thousands of social media users after being taken advantage of by her neighbors who reportedly employed her as a washerwoman, only to repay her with expired Ovaltine packets.
Her grandchild did not hesitate to bring awareness on the matter, calling her neighbors out for the ill-natured doing, through a TikTok post.
In her caption, she explained that failure in her career was not an option after witnessing what her grandmother had endured, emphasizing, “Pinaglalaba nyo maghapon kapalit ng expired na pagkain na tuwang tuwa naman sya kase hindi nya alam.”
“You’re making her do laundry all day in exchange for expired food which she’s happy about because she’s unaware.”
With over a million views in her post, the chocolate malt brand swiftly took notice and sent representatives to visit Lola Verginia, who supplied her with a year-worth variety of their products.
Ovaltine PH shared the exchange in their official Facebook page, writing, “It broke our hearts to see Lola Verginia’s previous encounter with an expired product.” The company would later express their delight in personally delivering their gift packs, highlighting, “Seeing her happy is genuinely the best feeling ever!”
Lola Verginia’s granddaughter further extended her gratitude and appreciation to the business, and to her new followers who had sent their family donations, significantly improving their conditions, as she continues to share in several TikTok posts.
