Alleged former YG employee leaks terabytes of data on major K-pop agencies

In a now-deleted Discord thread, a self-proclaimed former YG employee allegedly leaked private information about South Korea’s biggest entertainment agencies, including YG Entertainment, SM Entertainment, and JYP Entertainment.

Other companies, such as HYBE, were also implicated in the growing scandal, with terabytes of data reportedly posted by the ex-employee.

With band names such as BTS, BLACKPINK, and NCT involved, users quickly spread the issue across social media platforms. In screenshots retrieved from the now-unavailable post, the author first revealed their motive behind the leak, stating that they were fired and hated the entire company (YG) due to its “mobbing, racism, and sexism.”

Demos of the mentioned artists were mainly discovered in what had been uploaded, with tracks dated all the way back to 2012 that were allegedly by BTS, but appeared to be a song record that had no relation to the group as it was sung by another unnamed artist and was never performed by the band.

Demos of the mentioned artists were among the uploaded files, with tracks dating back to 2012 that were allegedly by BTS. However, one track appeared to be a song recording unrelated to the group, as it was sung by another unnamed artist and was never performed by the band. Among the leaks was the alleged unreleased music video for BLACKPINK’s single, “Don’t Know What to Do.”

A user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, “They clearly have nothing on BTS, because if they had anything, they wouldn’t be starting from an ancient demo that isn’t even technically BTS.”

More users grew suspicion on the credibility of the account after they had also mentioned that they were “Gurumi,” which is an alleged leaker notoriously known for being the culprit behind the revelation of BTS V and BLACKPINK Jennie’s relationship who shared private photos of the two.

One account shared, “I’m sorry, but you people believing the yg leaker on discord need to use your brain because why would someone leak on discord and why would a former yg employee have tea on stuff from other companies. Also, this is the way they talk. It sounds like K-pop stan Twitter.”

Others, on the other hand, wrote that this may be “bad news” for K-Pop as a whole due to the major names and revelations that were temporarily publicized, with a user writing, “its so over for k-pop.”

While the agencies named in the issue are yet to respond to the confidential files that were momentarily leaked, with images of the discord thread still circulating on the internet, the ex-employee made it known that they received a “cease and desist” as a result of their actions, hence the disappearance of the posts.
