Lady Gaga casts a ‘dance or die’ spell with new music video ‘Abracadabra’

Lady Gaga has once again worked her spells through last February 3 with her latest music video drop ‘Abracadabra.’ The debut of her new song comes ahead of her March 7 album release ‘MAYHEM.’

Gaga, who was also in attendance at the 67th Grammy Awards, surprised her fans, collectively called ‘Little Monsters,’ with the reveal of the ‘Abracadabra’ music video during the commercial break of the program.

Gaga stood out in a deep red spiked dress contrasting the monochromatic backdrop of the scene. It was observed that this music video was perhaps Gaga’s strongest dance-geared track, dubbed to be a “dance battle between the light and dark sides of Gaga.”

The track is heavily reminiscent of Gaga’s musical style in the early 2010s following an upbeat dark pop trope. With 40 dancers clad in white avante-garde Alexander McQueen suits, Gaga had found the perfect beat for a track that fans have compared to the likes of her 2009 hit ‘Alejandro.’

Social media users were hit with a wave of nostalgia as to how ‘Abracadabra’ was made, as its aesthetic and lyricism heavily reminded them of the earlier era of Gaga and how she exceptionally blended it with this contemporary piece.

Not long after, the single had already hit the top 3 on the US iTunes music chart. Gaga’s ‘Disease’ and ‘Die With a Smile’ featuring Bruno Mars also held the top one and two respectively.

The pre-release of the song paired with the visual feat of a music video drew much anticipation for ‘MAYHEM’ since it has been five years since the release of her last album ‘Chromatica.’ Social media users felt positive about the upcoming new era of Gaga as she is bound to retreat back to pop.
