Philippines struggles with work-life balance, ranks near the bottom in global survey

Using data from the top 60 countries by Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Remote’s Global Life-Work Balance Index 2024 revealed that the Philippines ranked 59th out of 60 countries in terms of proper and healthy work-life balance.

Workers in the Philippines have an average of 40.63 working hours per week and are paid an appalling amount of 84.61 pesos per hour. This highlights the struggles of Filipinos across the country, who face difficulty maintaining a healthy balance while striving to provide for their families and make ends meet.

These rankings emphazied the urgent need for reform in the Philippines’ work culture, which should be addressed and prioritized to ensure that Filipino employees can achieve a better work-life balance that supports their well-being while maintaining a healthy integration of personal and professional life.
