Rolling Stone unveiled their top 100 albums of the year, sparking disapproval from social media users over the top 10 selections.
The music magazine published the list on Dec. 2, with Charli XCX’s BRAT taking the top spot.
The list continued with ‘COWBOY CARTER’ by Beyonce in the top 2, ‘Manning Fireworks’ by MJ Lenderman in the top 3, ‘Short n’ Sweet’ by Sabrina Carpenter in the top 4, and Billie Eillish’s ‘HIT ME HARD AND SOFT’ falls on the 5th spot.

Social media users on X (formerly known as Twitter) shared their sentiments about the ranking of the magazine.
“No shade to any of these artists, but I am genuinely wondering what [Rolling Stones’] ranking system is,” a social media user said.
A bunch of X users also shared their disagreement over ‘BRAT’s’ top spot and said that other albums deserved the number one spot.
“This is such a joke. Short n’ sweet is miles better than bRAT,” one social media user said.
Another social media user said, “BRAT should not be on number one.”
One more pointed out why Taylor’s album isn’t included and wrote, “wait there’s no TTPD?”
“First off eternal sunshine’s too low same with HMHAS [HIT ME HARD AND SOFT] and short n’ sweet. second off where tf is TTPD and third off Brat???” a third social media user said.
Some X users, on the other hand, shared their glee over ‘Water’ hitmaker Tyla receiving recognition from the magazine.
“Wasn’t expecting for Tyla to get this recognition, so deserved MOTHER,” an X user said.
Another social media user said, “OH TYLA YOU WILL ALWAYS BE FAMOUS.”
Whether praised or criticized, the rankings highlight the ever-evolving tastes and preferences of the music industry and its listeners.
