The world’s oldest man died at the age of 112 on Nov. 25, Monday Southport, England, Guinness World Records reported.
Guinness World Records stated in an article that John Tinniswood’s family told about his passing.
“His last day was surrounded by music and love,” the article states.
Tinniswood was born on Aug. 26, 1912 in Liverpool, where he grew up and later met his wife Blodwen.
The world-record-holder and his wife met at a dance and eventually got married in1242, which Tinniwood then said as one of his fondest memories.
In unfortunate circumstances, Tinniswood’s wife passed away in 1986, after 44 years of marriage.
Tinniswood spent his work career by serving in the Royal Army Pay Corps during the World War II and worked at accounts for Shell and BP after the war before retiring at the age of 60 in 1972.
The record holder shared that there is no any secret to his record-breaking age, saying that is is “pure luck.”
Throughout his old age, Tinniswood maintained an active brain, which potentially contributed to him living long.
His family expressed their gratitude to those who cared for the record-holder over time.
“John always liked to say thank you. So on his behalf, thanks to all those who cared for him over the years, including his carers at the Hollies Care Home, his GPs, district nurses, occupational therapist and other NHS staff.”
After the death of the previous world record holder, 114-year-old Juan Vicente Pérez from Venezuela earlier this year, Guinness World Records hailed Tinniswood as the world’s oldest living man in April this year at the of 111.
