News anchor Bernadette Sembrano shares the story behind her ‘sa’yo ako’ viral video

News anchor Bernadette Sembrano explains what really happened during the airing of the news program TV Patrol that led to saying the viral line “sa’yo ako.”

In a post she made via TikTok, the news anchor stated that there was no floor director during that episode of the news program.

“Usually yung FD ang magsesenyas kapag time mo na para magsalita [Usually the FD would give a signal if it’s time for you to speak],” she continued.

Since she did not have a monitor at that time, she had to rely on the crew who were there so she told the cameraman, “sa’yo ako ha”, meaning that he would be the one giving her the signal to speak.

“Ang hindi ko pala alam on-air na pala tayo so ngayon tayo ay naging meme na [What I didn’t know is that we’re already on-air so now we became a meme],” Sembrano added.

This became a line of “reassurance” for people that needed to hear as she stated in the video. The news anchor hopes that this made everything clear about what really happened during that time.

Upon seeing the TikTok video, social media users took to the comments to share their thoughts about the explanation of the said viral moment.

One user wrote, “You will be the icon for the line “Sayo Ako Ha” and part of digital history.”

Another user wrote, “1000/10 for me. May assurance na may explanation pa [There’s an assurance and even an explanation].”

“I really like the professionalism of Ms Bernadette.. salute,” a third user wrote.

Several social media users noted that she provided the reassurance they were seeking, despite the fact that this viral moment was unplanned.
