A discourse has sparked online regarding workplace policies in the outsourcing industry.
A user on LinkedIn made a post about the situation of Filipino employees during inclement weather.
Being a tropical country, the Philippines is vulnerable to typhoons and tropical storms. These typhoons have gotten so big and strong over time that they now happen outside of the monsoon season.
With this, the OP further explained that “they are not trying to scam you” in terms of their situation but rather they are “bracing for impact or already in the thick of it.”
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Eventomax Inc., O. F. Feldstein responded to the said post which reads, “Just seen this. My honest thoughts? Excuse is the brother of failure. Justification is the sister of guilt.”
While Feldstein agrees that weather conditions can be valid reasons, however he further explained that “permanently accepting something like a bit of wind and rain for absences won’t increase the chances of Filipinos being considered by hiring managers.”
Upon seeing the CEO’s post, people took to social media to share their thoughts about his statement.
Feldstein went back to the platform to clarify his statement earlier, sharing his perspective stating that “some have twisted comments, turning me into a target of misplaced outrage.”
He further continued and wrote, “My words were never about undermining the struggles of Filipinos during typhoons. They were about pointing out how such articles erode trust in the Philippines as a reliable outsourcing hub. Sharing such narratives invites sympathy but harms the industry.”
“Let me be clear: my comments were intended to support the Filipino workforce by highlighting how detrimental such articles are to our industry’s reputation. Unfortunately, reason doesn’t resonate with everyone,” he added.
Despite the said scenario, he mentioned that he would continue to share his opinions regardless of the baseless attacks.
“True change starts with accountability, not deflection,” he ended his statement.
Eventomax has also issued a statement standing by their CEO stating that they “will not tolerate such smear campaigns and are taking legal action against all forms of defamation and insult.”
