American singer-songwriter Khalid opened up about his sexuality in a series of tweets he posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) last November 23 and 24, 2024.
The ‘Young, Dumb, & Broke’ artist made it clear that he’s happy with who he is and confirmed he’s gay after being outed on X.
“🏳️🌈!!! there y’all go. next topic please lol,” he wrote and responded to another tweet saying, “I am [gay]! And that’s okay.”

He then continued to tweet, “I got outted and the world still continues to turn. Let’s get this straight (lmao) I am not ashamed of my sexuality! In reality it ain’t nobodies business! But I am okay with me 🖤 love yall.”

Khalid’s posts came shortly after Hugo Almonte posted various tweets about the artists he’s been intimate with and wrote, “one of your favorite gay R&B singers” once offered him drugs and “tried to set me up and lie that I broke into his house,” which has since been deleted.
Almonte, who’s also a musician, shared a photo of him with Khalid after posting claims saying that the “gay artists that are out right now” are “s***** as f***.”
Khalid has yet to respond to Almonte’s claims, but he replied to various social media users on X.
“I wasn’t hiding anything! It’s just not any of your business,” he responded to a tweet saying “the closet was glass baby. but we accept you. its not about who you love its about your artistry!”

After Almonte’s posts on social media, he told Rolling Stone that it was his intention to “share how he tried to use his power to silence me because I simply ended our relationship,” however, he did not name Khalid directly.
Almonte claimed he has received death threats and said, “It’s crazy that these people said I was chasing clout when I was holding onto this for five years, and I finally had enough.”
His social media pages are also flooded with backlash in light of his posting rampage on X.
Fans quickly showed their support for Khalid, and fellow gay artists also defended the R&B hitmaker, including producers MNEK and Amorphous, who condemned Almonte’s posts.
