Speakers from different industries came together to talk about their experiences at teh TEDx UP Visayas (TEDxUPV) Women: Anchored in Tech that occurred last November 15 at The Theater at Solaire.
Delving into the three primary themes of the event—lifestyle, leadership, and legacy—this is a first-of-its-kind TEDx event that examines how people are utilizing technology in their everyday lives, whether it’s for work or personal purposes.
Although hailing from another nation, audiences were able to get meaningful insights from the founder of “The Quiet Rich” Jade Bonacolta who gave three Italian concepts that will change one’s life. These three concepts remind us to be rich in time, experiences, and relationships.
There can be pre-conceived notions that working hard equates to a good future but there are no guarantees in this life, as several speakers mentioned during their talk that it is essential to make time for everything.
Bonacolta pointed out that it is important to cherish the time with the people that you love while you still have time.
Finding your own anchor is key to avoiding the negative anchors that are somehow innate in people. Andrea Del Rosario highlights that in order to do so, a person should be able to identify the root of the problem so that there can be a powerful line that can replace that negative thought.
Updating one’s personal operating system is what motivational speaker Mary Joyce Savage highlighted in her talk stating that it is necessary to be able to align beliefs, values, and life choices altogether. Comparing yourself to others has no room if one wants to instill change.
Dr. Neeta Bhushan reminds everyone that it is okay to slow down to constant productivity in order to give ourselves mental space. She also stated that one should “prioritize creating meaningful relationships with people that walk alongside us during life’s darker days.”
“True strength is not in doing life alone but with community,” Bhushan added.
Given that the world is in the digital age, constructive feedback can easily be given which is what the CEO of Global Miranda Miner Group Arlone Abello spoke about in his talk mentioning that one should allow themselves to receive constructive feedback and “not every negative comment in social media means that there is a hater.”
Overall, the talks coming from the speakers interweave with one another, but the message is clear: It is a necessity to allocate time for everything equally between work and leisure time to enjoy what life has to offer. There may be hurdles or committing mistakes along the way, this is not the end all be all as it can lead to greatness.
This is TEDx’s mission to research and discover ideas worth spreading. Talks like these can become eye openers to certain aspects in our lives to further lead to the changes one wants to see in their lives.
