‘Throwing shade?’: Social media abuzz as Manila Mayor posts ‘Text Your Ex Day’ online

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna seems to have a cryptic message with her recent post on social media.

On her Facebook page, she posted a photo stating that October 30 is “Text Your Ex Day” with a caption that reads, “Red flags are red for a reason, nak! Kung iniwan ka once, kaya niya rin yang gawin ulit. Tibay na lang at autopass na sa mga gustong bumalik na toxic [If he leaves you once, he can do it again. Stay strong and autopass on those who are toxic and want to return].”

Huwag maging marupok, nak [Don’t be fragile, my child],” she added.

Social media users immediately noted the link to former Manila mayor and political foe Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, even though it was unclear whether Lacuna was making fun of someone or if the post was a hint at someone in particular.

Social media users took to the comments to share their thoughts about the said post.

One user wrote, “Wag Kasi kayong kabahan kami ngang yorme supporters chill lang Po ee hayaan nyo Po ang taong bayan ang humusga maging civil nalang po kayo [Don’t be nervous, we Yorme supporters are just chill, let the people judge, just be civil].”

Another user wrote, “Parang t—-a Lang. Sa Ginagawa po ninyo bumababa Lang ang pag ka Tao ninyo wag na po sanang ganyan pare pareho Lang naman kayo dapat ang iboto ay bago na Kung ganyan din naman ang pag iisip ninyo [Just like an idiot. With what you’re doing, your sense of humanity is decreasing. I hope it won’t be like that anymore. You’re both the same. You should vote for someone new if you’re thinking like that].”

A third user wrote, “Hayaan nyo na lang po ang taumbayan na magdesisyon [Let the people decide].Your constituents have the rights ..so please respect that so that in some other ways voters will distinguish your performance as well.”l

Other social media users shared more of their thoughts with some taking the opportunity to remind everyone to use their vote wisely for the upcoming elections.
