Rebecca Black releases new song ‘TRUST!’ with MV that alludes to her pre-2010 era

Singer-songwriter Rebecca Black is making her comeback with the release of her music video for “TRUST!”.

The singer made the brilliant choice to make multiple funny references to the “Friday” phenomenon in the music video, which was released alongside the song.

In the introductory monologue, which is reminiscent of Mean Girls, one girl asserts that she had an affair with Elon Musk, while another says, “Boiler rooms used to be cool, then Rebecca Black ruined them.”

Then, as news footage plays in the background, there are flashing lights with a group of people dancing in a party-like atmosphere. The news clips that were featured are all about “Friday” with one news announcer saying, “Breaking news tonight: Rebecca Black is accused of viral fame for her hit song ‘Friday’.”

The remainder of the video takes place in a courtroom, and one clip features a newspaper headline that reads, “Friday was just the beginning.”

In an interview with Paper Magazine, she explained the vision for the said project stating that it is “tapping into this essence of delusion of grandeur and glamor that led the writing process for me. Everything I breathe is laced with camp these days and this concept felt like turning a narrative on its head in a fierce and unapologetic way.”

Upon seeing the music video, internet users took to social media to share their thoughts about her new song with some social media users even pointing out that other people seem to be sleeping on the singer with how great she is.

Black has been making a lot of music since the release of “Friday” which includes an EP called “Rebecca Black Was Here” in 2021 and her full-length album in 2023 entitled “Let Her Burn.”

In addition, the singer has recently DJ’ed a Boiler Room performance, ending it with a fantastic mashup of Charli XCX’s “360” and her song “Friday.”
