This only means one thing in the Philippines–some of the unemployed, money-hungry, clout-chasing actors and internet personalities are coming out of the woodwork to get a shot at possibly the most wanted retirement job in the country, and do absolutely nothing good for the country in the process!
Harsh? That is life.

Among all the internet personalities that have revealed their intentions to run for a certain government position, is social media influencer and self-proclaimed CEO Rosemarie Tan-Pamulaklakin. She will run for Councilor for the 1st District of Manila.
In an interview following the filing of her candidacy, Rosmar was asked about why she decided to run and her reasons behind it. She said, “Lahat ng bagay pwedeng matutunan. Hindi naman po akong bobong tao…Naka-graduate po ako sa Far Eastern University Batch 2015 and Section 1 po ako doon, Pilot Section po talaga ako. [All things can be learned. I am not a dumb person anyway. I graduated from Far Eastern University Batch 2015, and I belong to section 1. I really am part of the pilot section.]”
She later on went to say that the Rosmar that we see on social media is different from the Rosmar in real life, and said that “Aanhin ang katalinuhan sa law or kung ano pa naman ‘yan, kung hindi ka naman bukal sa pag-tulong sa mga tao, kung ang puso mow ala naman talaga sa pag-tulong. Nonsense po ‘yun para sa akin.”
People on the Internet were obviously shocked to see the “Kagayaku” meme actually running for politics, but at the same time weren’t because of the kind of culture we have here in the country.
What got to people though was Rosmar mentioning her alma mater and the section she was in. Rosmar did graduate from Far Eastern University with a degree in Medical Technology, and apparently, they do rank their students according to their base average from the Battery Exam.
Those in Sections 1 to 4 were apparently called the Pilot Class. So, what she said was true.

The FEU MedTech program ranks the students from sections 1-3 (at most) during junior year then the rest is random. So, her statement is actually factual. But, this does not mean that she is fit to run for office.

FEU MT grad here and may pilot section/ top section po talaga ang medtech 3rd to 4th year before. These students were put together based on their battery exam rankings, in short sila yung cream of the crop. Not in favor of her running pero true naman po ang say nya

Hi! I am currently a MedTech student at FEU and this became a hot topic on an FEU page. A lot of MedTech Alumni commented on Rosmar’s statement (pilot section) and yes, there is a pilot section during their time and usually it is given to students who passed the Battery Exam.

This, among many other examples of famous personalities running for office, is the reason why we should be more vigilant in who to vote into government. And, another reason for our current lawmakers to possibly ammend some parts of the Constitution that stipulates who can run for government.
Imagine, people are filing their candidacies with little to no knowledge at all about Public Administration, thanks to the very lenient requisites to do so, and on the other, we see people having a hard time finding jobs because of the multitude of requirements that they need to fill in order to be a “good candidate” for the role.
