M2M fans in shock and delight as Marit and Marion perform together after 22 years

Many fans were shocked when duo members Marit Larsen and Marion Raven sang an acoustic version of their song “The Day You Went Away” in an Instagram post on September 22.

With a caption, ‘Let’s give this story a better ending…’

The song features a specific lyric, “I remember, date and time / September 22nd Sunday twenty-five after nine,” which some fans noticed the exact time and day the video was posted.

Many expressed their joy seeing the two together after their split in 2002, 22 years ago.

The duo shared their thanks on IG posted on the M2M official account, “Our hearts are so full. THANK YOU.”

Marit Larsen and Marion Raven have been friends since they were 5 years old, and they created their duo when they were 8 years old.

They released a children’s album under the name “Marit & Marion” in 1996 when Raven was 12 and Larsen was 11 years old.

The duo changed their name to M2M after signing a record deal with Atlantic Records in 1998, they debuted their hit single “Don’t Say You Love Me” in 1999 which remained their biggest hit.

M2M was famously known for writing most of their songs and performing their own instruments, a rare fit and what set them aside from the other teen pop artists back then.

In 2002 the duo broke up, choosing to pursue their own solo careers.
