A revelation has come to light about Jesy Nelson’s final single with Little Mix, sparking a mix of emotions among fans.
Producer Tré Jean-Marie recently claimed that some of Nelson’s vocals on the 2020 track “No Time for Tears” were actually recorded by an impersonator. This unexpected disclosure has stirred debates about respect and authenticity within the music industry.
Jesy Nelson, 33, parted ways with Little Mix in 2020, citing a strained relationship with her bandmates and significant mental health challenges. Since leaving the group, she has ventured into a solo music career. Her departure single, produced by Tré Jean-Marie and Nathan Dawe, achieved Gold certification in the UK, selling 400,000 copies.
On July 20th, Jean-Marie took to Instagram to share his thoughts on the single’s success. He revealed a surprising “fun fact”: “All of Jesy’s BVs [backing vocals] (and even one of the leads) on ‘No Time for Tears’ are somebody else impersonating her because she was quite literally over it.”
This revelation has added a new layer of intrigue to Nelson’s departure. While some fans feel that exposing this information is disrespectful to Nelson, others are captivated by the behind-the-scenes insight.
Nelson, who was part of Little Mix’s original lineup formed on The X Factor in 2011, has not maintained contact with her former bandmates Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock. In an interview with The Sun last year, she shared, “For me, my mental health issues were an ongoing thing while I was in Little Mix. I was struggling with my body issues, I was constantly being trolled – and I really, really struggled with it.”
Despite the controversy, Nelson has no regrets about her decision to leave the group. “I had to do what was right for me and I will always cherish the memories I had in Little Mix. So no, we haven’t talked since then. Never say never, but I honestly wish them the best on their solo journeys now, which is so exciting.”
