South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun, one of the highest-paid actors and known for his dramas “My Love from the Star,” “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay,” and the recent hit drama “Queen of Tears,” held his Asia Tour “Eyes On You” at the Araneta Coliseum on June 29, 2024.
With loud cheers and screams from the audience, Kim Soo Hyun appeared on stage singing “Love You With All My Heart,” the OST for “Queen of Tears.”
“Kumusta ka? Ako ay si Kim Soo Hyun, Magandang gabi! [How are you? I’m Kim Soo Hyun. Good evening!]” the Korean actor greeted his supporters in Filipino.
The actor noticed that his fans were smiling and screaming so much that he couldn’t hear himself through the in-ear monitor anymore.
Minutes after the fan meeting started, when asked about “Queen of Tears,” the Korean actor became emotional and teary-eyed due to the overwhelming support he felt from his Filipino fans. Host Sam Oh jokingly referred to him as the “King of Tears.”
Expressing his gratitude to his Filipino fans, Kim Soo Hyun said he felt emotional because everyone was smiling, and thanks to the love and support he received from his drama “Queen of Tears,” he was able to return to the Philippines.
What is a fan meeting without exciting segments and games? The “Eyes On You” Asia Tour featured several segments, including the Yongduri Photo Studio, where the Korean actor explained exclusive photos from his drama flashed on the screen within 100 seconds. Yongduri is the place where his character from “Queen of Tears” was born.
The next segment was EXCLUSIVE! Soo Hyun’s Commentary, showing clips from “Queen of Tears.” Araneta Coliseum was filled with loud screams from the audience, and the actor jokingly asked them to drink water from too much screaming.
Fans were able to win exciting prizes from Kim Soo Hyun during the “Surprise Quiz” segment, where lucky fans who got picked answered questions to win a signed poster from the actor himself.
The next segment was “Learning About the Philippines,” where Kim Soo Hyun was challenged to guess the meaning of Filipino words and slang flashed on the screen. The words included “omsim” (mismo) that means “correct,” and “eme lang”/”charot” that means “just joking.” It was amusing because the word “charot” got stuck in the Korean actor’s mind until the end of the fan meeting.
The last game for the fan meeting was the “Mission! Relay Challenge,” where ten lucky fans were picked to play and get up close with Kim Soo Hyun. The winning team received a necklace from the actor himself, and another draw was made for six more winners of the necklace.
As the fan meeting was coming to an end, the actor returned to the stage to sing “Wherever You Will Go,” “Someone You Loved,” “All of Me,” and the iconic yodel song “Beautiful Swiss Lady,” which he also performed during his fan meeting 10 years ago.
The Korean sensation also expressed his heartfelt appreciation to his Filipino fans, stating, “Everyone here, from the start until the end of the show are smiling. It really makes me feel to enjoy the show as well. Today actually the songs I sang are not the best, but I really gained a lot of strength from you guys.” He then blew flying kisses to the audience inside the Araneta Coliseum.
Following a photo op with the audience, a surprise video from his Filipino fans flashed on screen. “I would like to sincerely express my gratitude for preparing this video. Thank you so much.”
“When I was planning for this fan meeting, I wanted to give you guys a lot of laughs and enjoyment, but it seems I was the one who laughed more and enjoyed the show more,” he added.
To conclude the fan meeting, Kim Soo Hyun sang “Way Home,” one of the OSTs from “Queen of Tears,” and received a bouquet from his fans. The Korean actor also announced his plans to return to the Philippines later this year.
