On June 22, the Philippines held the Pride March and Fest in honor of the continuous fight for LGBT rights.
Allegedly, many attendees at the Quezon City Pride were there only for the “clout” and only for BINI.
Many real protesters and allies who came for the protest could not enter the venue properly because QC Circle was filled with blooms (BINI’s fans).
“It’s definitely not the girls’ fault pero ang lungkot naman kung sakaling BINI lang yung pinunta nung iba at yung mga totoong beking nandon para sa Pride at protesta ang hindi nakapasok [It’s definitely not the girls’ fault, but it’s sad if people came only for BINI and the real LGBTQ+ supporters who were there for Pride and protest couldn’t get in],” a concerned social media user tweeted.
“The numbers used to mean something for us. Now how can we claim that we were 100,000+ strong kung BINI pala yung pinunta at hindi ang adbokasiya? [if people came for BINI and not for the advocacy?],” the user added.
Many social media users agree with this standpoint as the event was not even for BINI.
nung tinanong nung hosts kanina "simo dito ang pumunta lang para sa bini" tapos maraming nagtaasan ng kamay napasapo talaga ako sa noo. like the girls really deserve so much love pero pride is not about them, it is about the community and the causes that we are fighting for. 🤦♂️ https://t.co/ZYJo1Ske9B pic.twitter.com/xIqAGrr6PF

Dami ko nababasa dito na kaya lang daw marami nagpunta sa Pride march is dahil andun ang BINI?
Since Pride March is a protest, I challenge the organizers next year na walang performers. Tingnan naten kung pupunta yung mga bwakanginang for the clout lang.

need to start shaming straight men again for liking girl groups because wdym cishet men were all rushig to go to a pride march just to see bini and making other ACTUALLY queer people uncomfortable

It kind of rubbed me wrong when I realized people were selling and wearing BINI merch in the venue and there were too many people inside that didn't even march, not to mention during the livestream there were people commenting they were there for BINI not pride.

Some social media users wished that the line-up should have been kept a secret so the purpose of the event would remain.
The event is a protest.

Due to bad weather, the program had to be stopped, and the girl group was unable to perform.
Considering the allies’ perspective, perhaps they have the right to be upset. Attending a pride march without truly supporting the movement doesn’t make sense.
People should remember that the festival is a protest. It is a day when the LGBT community amplifies their voices.
