Kang Daniel announces the closure of his agency, KONNECT Entertainment

KONNECT Entertainment is no more.

Its founder, Kang Daniel, personally announced the news on his Instagram account on Sunday, June 9, 2024. The closure of KONNECT Entertainment comes after Kang Daniel reported the agency’s major shareholder to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency for embezzlement, breach of trust, forgery of official documents, among others back in May 2024.

KONNECT Entertainment was established in 2019 and was home to artists such as CL, Yuju, dance crew We Dem Boyz, and Chancellor.

The unnamed shareholder had apparently forged Kang Daniel’s signature to sign a ₩10 billion won ($7,250,000) advance music distribution contract without Kang Daniel’s knowledge in December 2022 and took out at least ₩2 billion won from KONNECT Entertainment’s account via overseas remittances and other methods without the consent or approval of the board members.

Kang Daniel’s attorney also shared that Kang Daniel also found out that ₩1.7 billion won was also withdrawn from his bank account.

Kang Daniel penned a letter addressing his fans about the news surround KONNECT Entertainment, which he posted on his Instagram account.

“Hello, this is Kang Daniel.

Half of this year has already gone by. As the weather has suddenly gotten hotter, I’m realizing how quickly time flies by.

My journey with KONNECT, which has been my home for the past five years and has also taught me responsibility, has come to an end.

I want to sincerely thank all of the employees and everyone else who laughed, cried, and led KONNECT together with me. I won’t forget this feeling [of gratitude].

Although I feel sad and regretful ending this journey with bad news, I plan to work through it quietly and diligently, just as I have always done. I will also use this time to ponder how to create a better future.

And to my DANITY [fandom], who must be thinking of me more than anyone else right now!

I will remain unchangingly by your side as Kang Daniel in the future as well. I’ll work hard to try and bring you good news quickly, so please don’t worry too much and make sure to eat good meals!

Thank you.”

Wishing you all the best for the future moving forward, Kang Daniel!
