Local church group theorizes BINI’s song ‘Salamin, Salamin’ to be about witchcraft

Have you gotten on board the Bloom train recently? All of us definitely sure have, we just can’t get “Pantropiko” and “Salamin, Salamin” out of our heads!

But, *gasps* what’s this?

You know how those old-maid ghost stories go, right? The ones with the mirror? Like, that whole “Bloody Mary” she-bang?

Yeah, now the locals are saying that the beloved “Salamin, Salamin” song by BINI is a song for witches.

A post from the “Follow Jesus Ministry” Facebook page theorized that the currently trending track from the “nation’s girl group” is a song that could “bring our hearts away from the Lord.”

As of writing, the post has over 5.1k reactions, 994 comments, and 1.9k shares. The post included a screenshot of a book by Viiivi James titled, “Mirror Magic (Scrying, Spells, Curses and Other Witch Crafts) and the lyrics of “Salamin, Salamin” with some of the sentences highlighted.

[Listening to worldly music will often distance us from our spiritual and moral values. It can influence our thoughts and behavior, let’s protect our hearts and minds from meaningless words because words are the spirit.]

The post also alleged, ‘Itong “Salamin Salamin’ yung sinayaw sa church pero no problem..KJ, Religious, OA, legalist pa yung nangrebuke at nagadvise. Di po yan KJ pagmamahal po yan. Salamin2 is a Witchcraft song.. Please wake up church!” [This ‘Salamin Salamin was performed in church but no problem.. The one who rebuked and advised was KJ (killjoy), religious, overacting, and a legalist. That is not KJ; that is love. ‘Mirror Mirror’ is a witchcraft song.. Please wake up, church!

The post ended with the following verses from Deuteronomy and The Second Letters to Timothy.

Deuteronomy 18: 10-13: Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord; because of these same detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you. You must be blameless before the Lord your God.

2 Timothy 4: 3-4: For the time will come when they will not endure sound teaching, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear, and they will turn their eyes away from the truth and be turned aside to fables.

Comments under the post were varying from agreeing with it and making fun of what the page had just said about BINI’s trending track.

It might be a bit controversial to say but, seriously, the blind-following religious fanatics have got to stop nitpicking everything good in the world! Like, we’re all trying to enjoy life here, and BINI just gave us serotonin-induced tracks to dance the hell out of.

Yeah, just used “hell” there to rile them up.

There’s nothing wrong with “Salamin, Salamin,” let’s just get that out there. It’s literally just a cute love song about yearning for someone’s crush. Is that already bad? Are we regressing to bottling women up to an image of someone pure like Maria Clara?

Pssh. It’s time to step outside, take a long deep breath, and touch the ground. You’re in reality, ma’am/sir.
