Boys Like Girls’ fans find their ‘great escape’ in Spring Tour 2024 Manila concert

Boys Like Girls returned and rocked the worlds of Filipino fans at the Araneta Coliseum on Saturday, April 20. We The Kings headlined the event and sang ‘Check,’ ‘Yes Juliet,’ and ‘Sad Song.’ In addition, they covered ‘Wonderwall’ by Oasis and ‘Mr. Brightside’ by The Killers. The venue was filled with fans singing their hearts out with the band as nostalgia and timeless memories brought them back to earlier years of their lives.

The outstanding quartet consisting of the lead vocalist Martin Johnson, the bassist Gregory James, the drummer John Keefe, and the lead guitarist John Keefe guided the fans into losing their control and having their great escape as they sang a curated 24-track setlist consisting of their most popular and iconic songs from the past and some of their new materials. Fans were in a whirlwind of ecstasy and recollection from the band singing almost continuously with a throwing of guitar pick here and there.

Among the songs they performed were ‘Love Drunk,’ ‘Miracle,’ ‘Great Escape,’ and ‘Hero/Heroine.’ They even covered and put their own touch on the song ‘I Can’t Stop Me’ by Twice, a famous Korean girl group.

The night had gotten even better when a fan decided to surprise his girlfriend with a wedding proposal as the band sang ‘Two is Better Than One.’ Martin noticed what was happening as the crowd was gushing over the couple. Right after, the band sang their classic ‘Thunder.’

Indeed, many fans are likely to cherish the experience forever, as the entire event evokes memories during the early 2000s.

The American rock band Boys Like Girls started with four teenagers in 2004 performing in basements, garages, and VFW halls in Massachusetts. Their stardom rocketed when their self-titled debut album sold over 700,000 copies and their ‘Love Drunk’ album in 2009 topped the Top Rock Albums Chart.

The event was made possible by PULP Live World.
