BINI’s ‘protect team’ requests user to change their display handle, citing ‘sexual matter’

A user on X (formerly known as Twitter) was approached by BINI’s protect team (@bini_protect) because of his display name on the said media platform.

According to the user who posted the update, BINI’s protect team messaged @GoldieDad23 (whose former username was BINI_BIR*CH*), to change or remove BINI’s name off the username because it appears erotic.

‘We have been receiving DMs regarding your display name as it comes off as a sexual matter adding the fact that it has BINI’s name on it.’

Allegedly, in a now-deleted tweet of @GoldieDad23, he expressed his reaction to the direct message of the protect team.

‘HAHAHAHAHAHAHA are you serious? Sexual matter ampo*a. Go back to sleep. Seems you woke up and chose stupidity today.]’ Quoted as he wrote.

@GoldieDad23 had been known to be a part of the Bear community in Mr. Bear Philippines which hosts competitions for ‘bear-sized’ Filipino men. In his post, one of the community members Dale Escueta (@akosideedee) replied.

‘Palitan ko kaya name ko ng B*N*-BJ [What if I change my name to B*N*-BJ]’

Many Blooms (BINI’s fandom name) expressed their disappointment and anger toward the ‘sexualization’’ of the girl group’s name, given also that a big percent of their fans are young women. However, some highlighted that BINI’s protection team should have done an investigation on @GoldieDad23’s former username and his tweets as they claimed that his tweets are not for sexualizing the girl group.

One user commented on other fans gatekeeping the word BINI.

‘LUH, Taen**g yan di niyo owned ang word na BINI, Kahit sino pede gumamit niyan. At wala din dapat kayong pakialam kung pano nila gagamitin [You don’t own the word BINI. Anyone can use it however they want].’

In reply to the user’s remark, a Bloom said:

‘Literal na BINI in all caps. Alam nating lahat context non. Ang weird naman na nag peak Bini ngayon, tapos nag papalit mga tao ng Twitter names tapos i dedeny pa na hindi about sa BINI yon [It’s literally BINI in all caps, we all know its context. It’s weird that when BINI became famous, people started to change their Twitter names and deny that it’s related to BINI]

HOW HARD IT IS NA AMININ NA OK LANG MAG KAMALI? Jusko [How hard is it to admit that it’s okay to make a mistake?]’

In line with the controversies, Dale Escueta (@akosideedee) tweeted his apologies while @GoldieDad23’s account remained deactivated.
