Some say it’s wise if you try to live in the same house with the person you wish to settle down with before marrying them, as you never really know a person unless you live with them in the same space. In this case, they got married first before moving in together.
32-year-old Gypsy Rose Blanchard reportedly broke up with ex-husband 37-year-old Ryan Anderson just under 2 years of marriage after finding out the full extent of his food hoarding issue and snoring.
In July 2022, Gypsy and Ryan officially vowed to each other in a jailhouse wedding ceremony while she was still serving her 10-year sentence for the murder of her late mother Clauddine ‘Dee Dee’ Blanchard.
Dee Dee was suspected of having suffered from the psychological disorder Munchausen Syndrome. This made her fake her daughter’s illnesses to get attention and gain sympathy from people. In 2017, an HBO film called ‘Mommy Dead and Dearest’ documented Gypsy’s life. The film exhibited how Gypsy was strapped to a wheelchair and was fed using a tube by her mother.
Gypsy was officially released from prison in December 2023. She and Ryan moved into their 2-bedroom apartment. In previous interviews, the ex-couple mentioned that they were taking things slow. However, after an almost 2-year marriage, Gypsy called it off because she couldn’t stand Ryan’s alleged behavior anymore.
Ryan was described as a ‘human furnace,’ because of how loud he snores when sleeping. Gypsy said she could not find rest because of how loud Ryan snores. Reports also said that their shared refrigerator was stocked with Ryan’s expired food. When he was away, Gypsy snuck and tossed the expired items away. Ryan learned about this and got furious. This made the lovers quarrel, which affected Gypsy so much that she felt ‘shaken.’
Gypsy was said to be ‘especially bothered,’ because her traumatic past seemed to be catching up on her in the present because of how Ryan’s food hoarding and snoring issues reminded her of her mother.
After spending so much time behind bars, perhaps Gypsy is still figuring out a lot of things in her life, trying to adjust and catch up with it all at the same time. Gypsy wrote that she is learning to listen to her heart. “Right now I need time to let myself find… who I am,” Gypsy said.
