Filipino Historian Ambeth Ocampo reacts to witty suggestions for localized ‘Cunk on Earth’

Last April 12, X (formerly known as Twitter) user @denielemein posted a suggestion to have a Philippine version of the British television series titled ‘Cunk on Earth,’ starring Filipino comedian Rufa Mae Quinto.

On January 31, ‘Cunk on Earth’ made its global premiere for its latest season, offering viewers a tour of the globe from the perspective of host Philomena Cunk (Diane Morgan). In the wildly popular mockumentary, Morgan plays a presenter who poses absurd questions to actual historians. The technical details and interviews of Cunk on Earth are entirely accurate, but you should take Cunk’s humorous narration with a grain of salt.

The post went viral and reached the famous Filipino historian Ambeth R. Ocampo, who posted it on his Facebook page and acknowledged the witty suggestion. “I would prefer Eugene Domingo interviewing me,” he said.

Several Filipinos reposted on X with their own witty remarks about the reimagined version of the series.

Here are some of the few remarks in the thread:

A Philippine version of ‘Cunk on Earth’ is looking like a good idea, after all.
