A terrifying killing spree was carried out by an astrology influencer who was allegedly motivated by fears of a solar eclipse. She killed her partner with a knife and pushed her children out of the car before killing herself by crashing her car into a tree.
On April 8, Danielle Johnson, 34, went on a violent rampage in Los Angeles, coinciding with the rare occurrence of a total solar eclipse.
On X (formerly Twitter), the astrology influencer known as “Ayoka” had over 100,000 followers. She frequently reposted conspiracy theories on her page ahead of the total solar eclipse.
She had written messages on X before Monday’s rampage, told people to “wake up; the apocalypse is here,” and cautioned her followers to “pick a side.”

Before the eclipse, on Monday morning, authorities claimed she went on a murderous rampage. Just before the most recent total solar eclipse, on Monday, April 8, Johnson fatally stabbed her boyfriend, 29-year-old Jaelen Allen Chaney, who was found dead by neighbors inside their Woodland Hills apartment, according to police. Then, on the Westchester 405 Freeway, she took her two daughters and violently pushed them out of her moving vehicle.
The mother’s eight-month-old child died at the scene after suffering fatal injuries from the fall, according to an LAPD press release, while her nine-year-old child was taken to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries.
Johnson continued driving after that, pushed the car to over 100 mph, and at about five in the morning, she crashed into a tree in Redondo Beach and died from her injuries.
Police had not yet clarified what motivated Johnson to carry out the killing rampage.
Although investigators had examined her social media posts, Mr. Golan of the LAPD told The Associated Press, “We just don’t know why she did what she did,” and they do not believe the eclipse played a role.
He continued, “We’ve gathered all the information we can, but I don’t know how much trust you can give to someone (saying) there’s an apocalypse and attribute it to one of the most horrifying murders we’ve had in LA without being able to interview her and without having something more tangible than a post on X.”
According to LAPD investigators, Chaney and Johnson had been in a relationship for approximately three years and had been living together. Mr. Golan further stated that there had been no previous instances of domestic violence reported between the couple, as reported by CBS.
