PH fitness community raises doubts on trusted protein powder brands after viral lab results

Immediately after the viral lab results that fitness professionals published, many in the fitness world started to have reservations about their trusted protein powder brands.

It’s not just athletes and wannabe Schwarzenegger types who should consume adequate protein. Study suggests that it is essential for a functioning immune system, as well as for the heart, brain, and skin. It is also said to have the capacity to regulate hunger and promote muscle growth.

On March 26, 2024, a Facebook post made by fitness experts Wisdom Valleser, a researcher and full-time faculty of the Department of Sports Science at the University of the Philippines College of Human Kinetics (UP CHK), and Jah Agcaoili, an educator on exercise science, fitness, and physical education, released the most-awaited but now-deleted test findings of several protein products in the Philippines. The results show the protein content analysis of the products tested.

Following the unforeseen outrage on social media from product consumers, the fitness experts removed their posts, expressing that people misjudged and promptly ignored the limitations mentioned in the post.

Prothin Philippines, a company that sells protein products, released an initial statement to address the claims, emphasizing that there are some variables to consider while evaluating the product that may affect the analysis. Nevertheless, they were adamant that they were not misleading their customers and that their products were true and accurate as advertised.
