Have K-pop fans become too snowflake-y or are they completely valid for this?
On March 11, 2024, at 12 M.N. KST, SM Entertainment dropped the MV teaser for Red Velvet Wendy’s upcoming title track, “Wish You Hell.” Wendy is set to release her 2nd mini album on March 12, 2024, almost 3 years since her solo debut with the EP “Like Water” in April 2021.
“Wish You Hell” will include 6 tracks, including the title track of the same name. Since March 7, 2024, Wendy has been releasing teaser videos for her EP’s B-sides—“Better Judgement,” “His Car Isn’t Yours,” “Best Ever,” “Vermillion,” and “Queen of the Party,” which showcase a behind-the-scenes P.O.V. of Wendy’s preparation for the album.
Then on March 11th, Wendy’s MV teaser for her upcoming title track was revealed. In it, Wendy, who was dressed in an all-black rocker outfit reminiscent of one of her looks during Red Velvet’s “Queendom” era, was seen walking inside a church and looking down at a coffin. The person in the coffin was also Wendy, who was dressed in white and looked similar to the vibe she had given in her solo debut.
ReVeluvs were excited about the whole comeback and didn’t waste any time in praising and expressing their anticipation for Wendy’s newest EP and image change.

At the same time, other K-pop fans were quick to call out the Red Velvet member for filming in a church, where the religious symbols of the Tabernacle and the holy cross were seen. Others also called out the “double standards” at play, because not even 2 weeks ago, another group (LE SSERAFIM) was called out for the same thing.

In response to this, ReVeluvs defended Wendy by referencing how the artist was initially called a “church girl” in the past as an attempt to mock her artistry and image. ReVeluvs also explained how Wendy used her “church girl” and good girl image as a way to usher in a new one, which Wendy also explained in a recent appearance at a podcast.
In her words, Wendy said that she was “wishing her old self hell,” because she always used to follow the standards everyone else set for her.
