TWICE has once again got our hearts burning, burning, burning!
On February 23, 2024, TWICE made their highly anticipated comeback with their thirteenth EP, “With YOU-th”, with its lead single “One Spark.” This marks the girl group’s first comeback in a year, following their commercially successful twelfth EP, “Ready To Be” and a year since they started their “Ready To Be” world tour.
Prior to the release of their newest record, TWICE dropped their third all-English track, “I Got You” on February 2, 2024. The song was a synth-pop track that expressed TWICE’s friendship, love, and bond with one another, along with the message that “even during difficult situations, I was always happy because of ‘you’ and we will overcome those hardships ‘together’ as always,” as translated by the Korea JoongAng Daily.
A remix collection titled “I Got You” (Voyage version) was released on February 5, 2024, on digital platforms, which included a version featuring Lauv.
“With YOU-th” consists of six tracks, including the pre-release single and the mini album’s title track. Three songs on the record were written by 3 TWICE members—“Rush” by Chaeyoung, “Bloom” by Jeongyeon, and “You Get Me” by Dahyun. However, in an interview with Today, Dahyun insisted that all of them had contributed to the album—“…whether it was deciding on the costumes or the music videos and other concepts for the album. It was all of us.”
According to JYP Entertainment’s press release last Friday, February 23, 2024, the veteran 9-piece group was “hoping to create everlasting youth for the group and its fans ONCE” through their newest EP.
For members, Momo and Jihyo, “With YOU-th” is a record that evokes nostalgia and “looks back on the members’ memories and friendships made over their nine years working as a group in the prime of their youth.”
“ONE SPARK” is described as a drum and bass genre track, which seems to be a nod to their bubblegum pop releases in the past, that conveys TWICE’s youth and passion to “burn even brighter” even through trying times. The music video sees the members dancing in different sets, ultimately ending up on Chuncheon Bridge and ending the music video with fireworks.
In just a day after their comeback, TWICE’s newest EP had sold a total of 758,876 copies according to Hanteo Chart—which broke their previous record of 651,205 of first-week sales which they set with their last mini album “Ready To Be.”
Congratulations once again to another successful comeback and release, TWICE!
