Filipino stars Liza Soberano and Ylona Garcia confirm attendance at Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2024

Filipino pride will ignite as Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2024 will be graced by Filipina artists Liza Soberano and Ylona Garcia this March in Tokyo, Japan.

The Anime Awards revealed its lineup of presenters earlier in the week. Among the artists participating in the upcoming award show are movie and television actress Liza Soberano as an In-Show talent and former Pinoy Big Brother alumna Ylona Garcia as presenter.

Apart from her highly regarded role in her first Hollywood film, Lisa Frankenstein, Soberano is also no stranger to the world of anime. She voiced Alexandra Trese in the official Filipino translation of the Netflix anime adaptation of the Filipino comic book Trese, which she regards as her ‘career highlight.’

Meanwhile, Garcia, now based in the US, recently returned from her show at the Asia Pacific Predator League in Pasay City, where she performed Entertain Me, a song released in partnership with the tactical shooting game Valorant.

The two will join a roster of Japanese and international artists who will grace the event.

Notable celebrity presenters named include RuPaul’s Drag Race season 10 winner Aquaria; Grammy-winning artist Megan Thee Stallion; Japanese actress, singer, and model Chiaki Kuriyama; Spider-Man Across the Spiderverse producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, director Joaquim dos Santos; Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani; NFL player DeMarcus Lawrence; Japanese TV personality So Takei; and more.

The streaming platform Crunchyroll hosts the Anime Awards, which have grown into a yearly occasion that celebrates the creativity, passion, and novelty that distinguishes the anime industry while showcasing the finest of the previous year’s production. Numerous categories, such as Best Animation, Best Director, Best Character Design, and many more, will be presented during this year’s awards.

The event will be on March 2 at the Main Banquet Hall of the Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa in Tokyo, Japan, and will be streamed live at 5 p.m. Philippine Time (6 p.m. JST) on Crunchyroll’s YouTube and Twitch account.
