On December 19, ATTRAKT allegedly sued three former members of the girl group FIFTY FIFTY, Aran, Saena, and Sio along with their parents, as well as the CEO of the creative content development group, The Giver, Ahn Sung Il.
In a statement, the agency said, “We filed a civil lawsuit against former FIFTY FIFTY members Saena, Sio, and Aran for the unlawful termination of their contract as well as The Givers, Ahn Sung Il, Mr. Baek, and the parents of the former members who had conspired with them.”
This ongoing dispute between ATTRAKT and former FIFTY FIFTY members was reported way back in June 2023.
It was claimed before that three out of four members were dropped from their label over contract disputes. It was also stated that the company violated the members’ contract because of accounting issues and the group’s mental health was neglected. However, ATTRAKT claimed that a rival management group interfered and attempted to poach the group.
The company has declared that it intends to sue for several hundred billion KRW and that the amount may go up as the case goes on. As of the writing of this writing, the label filed a lawsuit, rounding roughly to US$99.7 million (approximately Php 5.55 billion)
“The amount we are seeking for damages is in the hundreds of billions of KRW, but there is a possibility that the amount will become greater throughout the lawsuit.”
Due to the legal dispute involving financial fraud and music and distribution rights, ATTRAKT decided to terminate the exclusive contracts of three members—Saena, Sio, and Aran—leaving Keena as the only member who rejoined the agency after dropping her lawsuit.
Despite the controversy, the agency now plans to introduce new faces to the group with the former member Keena.
