Song Ji Hyo wins lawsuit against former agency, to receive the US$750k payment she’s entitled to

Song Ji Hyo, famous for being one of the cast in the popular TV show Running Man, has won her lawsuit against her former agency Uzu Rocks.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Song Ji Hyo terminated her contract with Uzu Rocks followed by the news she filed a lawsuit against them for unpaid earnings. Uzu Rocks agreed to release the actress from her contract and apologized. The company acknowledged that the early termination of her contract was their fault.

Last November 22, the Seoul District Court found in favor of Song Ji Hyo, ruling that the company owed her not only 984 million won (approximately $746,048 or Php 42.1M) in unpaid earnings, but also with additional sum for the delayed interest and more.

On November 28, Uzu Rocks received the judgment and has not appealed the decision for two weeks. This means that the deadline to file an appeal has passed, and the actress has officially won the lawsuit against her former agency.

“We plan to pay [Song Ji Hyo what she is owed],” a representative of Uzu Rocks stated on December 13.

When they were asked about why they had not appealed the court’s decision, “It’s right for us to pay [her what she’s owed.] We are at fault.”

On the other hand, Song Ji Hyo’s legal representative said, “We are currently internally discussing future measures against Uzu Rocks.”
