Fil-Am actress Eva Noblezada to play Daisy in ‘The Great Gatsby’ musical

Filipino-American actress Eva Noblezada will star as socialite Daisy Buchanan in Paper Mill Playhouse’s musical production of ‘The Great Gatsby,’ set to play starting October 2023.

Based on the novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald, ‘The Great Gatsby’ is set in the 1920s jazz era, wherein, “eccentric millionaire Jay Gatsby will stop at nothing in his tragic pursuit of Daisy Buchanan, a wealthy young woman who he loved in his youth. Surrounded by characters with incredibly complex and nuanced inner lives, passions, and longings boil, and then erupt – spurring the unimaginable fates that befall them.”

Alongside Noblezada, Tony and Drama Desk Award nominee Jeremy Jordan will star in the lead role of Jay Gatsby, with additional casting to be announced in the coming weeks.

The production led by producing artistic director Mark Hoebee and executive director Michael Stotts will open its curtains starting October 12 to November 12, 2023, at the Paper Mill Playhouse at 22 Brookside Drive, United States.

Nobleza made her Broadway debut in the revival of Miss Saigon, where she played the role of Vietnamese girl Kim, which earned her a Tony Award nomination for ‘Best Actress in a Lead Role in Musical’ and an honoree of the Theatre World Award in 2017.

She also starred as Eurydice in the Broadway production of Hadestown, to which she earned her second Tony Award nomination in 2019, and won the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album along with the cast in 2020.

The actress also ventured into film, starring in 2019’s ‘Yellow Rose’ with fellow Broadway artist Lea Salonga and 2022’s ‘Easter Sunday’ starring comedian Jo Koy.
