‘Sang’gre: Encantadia Chronicles’ shares its first look with concept art shown at San Diego Comic-Con

“Sang’gre: Encantadia Chronicles,” a spin-off of GMA Network’s fantasy-drama Encantadia, officially revealed its first concept art during the San Diego Comic-Con 2023.

Encantadia director Mark Reyes shared the news on his Instagram, posting the concept art featuring GMAs SPARKLE actress Bianca Umali wearing a Sang’gre battle costume with a backdrop of the enchanted realm of ‘Encantadia’.

According to the caption of the post, the series is slated to be released in 2024.

“Sang’gre: Encantadia Chronicles” will center on the story of “a young girl who grows up in the mortal world, not knowing that she is the missing daughter of Sang’gre Danaya,” according to a press release from the network.

As such, this will be the fifth installment in the series following 2016’s Encantadia, a reboot of the original series with the same title that run in 2005.

Though the official cast of the spin-off is yet to be announced, aside from Umali, Encantadia creator Suzette Doctolero said in an interview last year that the series will follow the events of the 2016 series and assured that the four Sang’gres – Pirena, Amihan, Alena, and Danaya – are still present in the spin-off.

However, whether Glaiza de Castro, Kylie Padilla, Gabbi Garcia, and Sanya Lopez will reprise their role in the spin-off is still unknown, considering that Padilla’s character Amihan died in the series.

Production of the series is set to “start soon” according to Reyes in his Instagram post last June, with further details yet to be announced.
