Translated statement:

“Hello, this is SM Entertainment.

We are delivering sudden news regarding Kai’s enlistment date.

Although Kai had been preparing for EXO’s comeback later this year, due to recent changes in the law regarding military enlistment, Kai will be enlisting on May 11 to complete his basic training, after which he will begin working as a social worker.

To respect Kai’s wishes to quietly enlist, we are not revealing the place and time at which he will enlist. We also ask that fans understand that any scheduled events on that day will be canceled.

We will reveal details regarding EXO’s upcoming album as they are confirmed.

Thank you.

According to the agency, due to limited venue space, the free event will accept pre-registration from members of the official paid fan club of the group (EXO-L-ACE 3, ACE 2).

“As this is a space prepared for those who love Kai to be with him, we ask for your understanding even if there are many shortcomings,” the agency added.

On May 3, the agency announced in a statement an unexpected news that the idol will enlist next week, stating, “Kai was preparing for EXO’s comeback for this year, but due to a recent change in regulations of the Military Manpower Administration, he is set to enter the army recruit training center on May 11 where he will receive basic military training, and he will then serve as a public service worker.”

Fans of the K-Pop group are baffled as the group was supposed to have a full-group comeback in 5 years this 2023, following the official discharge of a fellow member, Baekhyun, early this year.

He is the seventh member of the group to be serving in the military, following the older members who had enlisted in this order: Xiumin, D.O., Suho, Chen, Chanyeol, and Baekhyun.

Kai recently had a solo comeback with the release of his third mini album, Rover, last March.
