Fans of the Korean idols The Boyz, aespa, and Girls Generation’s Taeyeon finally witnessed them perform in the flesh during the “K-Verse” concert last April 11, 2023, at the Araneta Coliseum. The event was opened by two hosts, Filipina actress and host, Denise Laurel, and Kyungmin Kim, popularly known as ‘Pambansang Bunso.’
aespa set a whole new level of energy as they stepped onto the stage to formally open the show with their debut song ‘Black Mamba,’ which was then followed by ‘Illusion,’ a track from their latest album. The girls visited the Philippines for the first time to see their beloved MYs (aespa’s fandom name) and to try different Filipino dishes, especially ‘Adobo.’ One of the band members, Karina, also expressed that she wants to visit one of the most famous tourist spots in the Philippines, Boracay.
On the same day of the concert, Karina was also celebrating her birthday. MYs enthusiastically sang a happy birthday song for her, both in English and in Korean. As a gift, aespa gave their fans a hint about their comeback song using their facial expressions.
The quartet then wrapped up their stage with some of their hit songs ‘Life is too short,’ ‘Lingo,’ ‘’Savage,’ and ‘Next level.’
The Boyz then took the stage, who dominated the stage with their latest single, ‘Roar.’ The group first visited the Philippines four years ago, during their Asia Fan-con Tour.
K-Verse even became more special as the fans sang another birthday song for one more celebrant, Sunwoo, who celebrated his 23rd birthday on April 12. Even the fans from other fandoms sang for him.
Ultimately, Taeyeon’s dominance of stage marked the end of her fans’ long waiting game. After 5 years, the singer came back to conquer the Philippine stage by serenading audiences with her singles ‘I’ and ‘Toddler.’
During her set, one of the hosts, Kyungmin, taught the Korean star a Filipino word such as “Masaya ako,” which made the fans go wild. She also made a revelation, saying that she is now preparing to go on a solo tour again.
She also sang some of her crowd favorites, ‘Set myself on Fire,’ ‘Four Seasons,’ and ‘What Do I Call You.’ Taeyeon closed the show with her single, ‘INVU.’
Without a doubt, all the artists took the fans to the Ultimate Pop Universe!
