Scene Queen breaks the silence in fearless new track & video ’18+’

Scene Queen is making her voice heard. The always-bold songstress is back with yet another banger, and this one is the most meaningful one yet. “18+” boldly calls out sexual abuse and grooming in the music industry.

Since she started teasing the track several weeks ago, the song’s snippets have seen millions of views online, and fans are raring and ready to hear the full thing. Global fans from every corner of the internet have fallen in love with Scene Queen’s unique metal-infused sound and feminist-forward lyrics. Now, with “18+”, Scene Queen is fearlessly charging ahead.

“I wrote ’18+’ to be controversial and I hope that’s what I’ve achieved. When I wrote the song I made it my mission to make something that sounds like an intense personal call out but also broad enough that it covers an entire epidemic within the scene. Having people arguing over which band I might be upset with, arguing over security measures taken place in the scene, or even arguing whether the lyrics are good or just borderline unsettling is the exact point of the song: to get people talking about what we’ve refused to talk about in the scene the last ten years.

When I left the scene around 2015, because it no longer felt like a safe space for women, I swore that if I ever came back I would make it my mission to set fires until it was safe. I alluded to this heavily on Bimbocore Vol. 2 with my song ‘The Rapture (but it’s Pink)’ featuring Mothica, but ’18+’ is me finally making the first step into that. Predatory behavior is something that has been happening in the scene for years and still happens now. If I waited for the perfect time and the easiest way to start the conversation, I would never get the chance.”

A portion of the “18+” net profits will be donated by Scene Queen to RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network), the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization.

Scene Queen (AKA Hannah Collins) is not here to be quiet, and she is not here to apologize. With lyrics that come for the throat of misogynists and genre purists, Scene Queen is not afraid to disrupt the peace. Don’t be fooled by her colourful pink image; she’s as fierce as she is vibrant, with angst packed between every punchy lyric.

Scene Queen is the epitome of the new emo scene. A new scene where everyone is welcome. Her music shows the cracks in society and breaks down the walls we put up everyday. To show that although this new scene may look different, we are all pink on the inside.
