Shout out to all OG Filipino anime fans! The ‘Slam Dunk’ players are finally back.

If you miss seeing Ryota Miyagi and the rest of the Shohoku High boys, then prepare for nostalgia as ‘The First Slam Dunk’ movie hits cinema this February. Be prepared to re-live your ‘days well spent’ having your anime series marathon!

But, if you are generally unfamiliar with the series (because, Gen Alpha or what), ‘The First Slam Dunk’ is a Japanese animated movie based on the hit and all-time favorite manga series, ‘Slam Dunk.’

First released in 1993, ‘Slam Dunk’ is a basketball series that became very close to the hearts of Filipinos. Although many years have passed and various anime series have been released, it remains irreplaceable up to this day. There’s no doubt that this 2022 ‘Slam Dunk’ franchise will summon the 90s babies and anime fans in the cinemas.

Today, February 1, art legend Takehiko Inoue, the illustrator and writer behind the said series and movie, happily announced the ‘The First Slam Dunk’ premiere in the Philippines.

As expected, Filipino ‘Slam Dunk’ fans couldn’t contain their excitement as it finally marked the end of their waiting game.
