Mariah Carey has defrosted and she’s taking over the internet with ‘#MariahSZN’

It’s time to hide your spooky costumes and start hanging your lanterns and Christmas lights because we’re about to begin the Christmas season. Don’t ask or argue because the Queen of Christmas, Mariah Carey, has officially declared it!

On November 1, a day after Halloween, the superstar teased her Christmas comeback with a video clip that appears to be welcoming the festive season.

The video, which has now garnered a whopping 21.2 million views on Twitter, sees Carey dressed up as a witch in a spooky forest, surrounded by bats, jack-o-lanterns, and flying calendars. As soon as the calendar date flips to November 1, the clip then shifts into color with Carey dressed up in a festive Santa suit.

“It’s time!” the Songbird Supreme says in her signature whistle register while her hit Christmas song “All I Want For Christmas Is You” plays in the background.

The singer even put the same phrase in her caption and used the tag “#MariahSZN,” officially marking the Christmas season.

As soon as Carey dropped her Christmas announcement, the internet was pumped and also welcomed the festive season. Twitter even became flooded with hilarious reactions and memes, including the famous yearly joke “Mariah Carey is defrosting.”

Let’s look at some of the best and wittiest tweets and memes that we’ve compiled to celebrate the festivity, aka #MariahSZN:

In case you didn’t know: Carey has been long associated with Christmas due to her popular song “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” which is mostly listened to by many as soon as the festive season approaches.

With this, “Mariah Carey is defrosting” has become a running joke every year. The Grammy Award-winning artist also joins in on the fun as she posts similar videos of her welcoming the Christmas season since 2019.

Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” was originally released in 1994, serving as the lead single of her fourth studio album “Merry Christmas.” The song has received critical acclaim and broke 3 Guinness World Records, including the highest-charting holiday (Christmas/New Year) song on the U.S. Hot 100 chart by a solo artist in 2019. 28 years since its release, the song continues to gain popularity each holiday season and enters the music chart.

As of this writing, “All I Want For Christmas Is You” has received over 1 million streams and re-entered the global Spotify chart.

I guess we can say that every Christmas season is truly the emancipation of Mimi, eh?

Happy holidays (in advance), everyone! Go blast “All I Want For Christmas Is You” on your speaker!
