Budget friendly ways to spend your ‘Undas’ break

A long weekend is coming up! While some people are planning for ‘grand’ vacations, some of us just don’t have the budget to do so. Here are some recommendations on how to spend your Undas break without driving your wallet to the ground.

Virtual Parties

Even though the restrictions are already at ease, let’s admit it–virtual parties are waaay cheaper than holding or attending face to face parties.

Virtual Halloween Parties

Virtual Halloween parties were pretty common during the height of the pandemic. People’s creativity were put to the test when they had to think of costumes that can translate well on screen. Well, for this year, you can up the ante by adding a Powerpoint Presentation segment–you can start with these Halloween topics outlined by the POP! team.

Speaking of costumes…

Role playing games

Since you’re already in a costume, why not do a role-playing game tailored to the theme of the party?

Role playing games can come in many forms: You can do a murder mystery game wherein participants try to solve a murder through the course of the party.

‘Werewolf’ or ‘Among Us’ concepts are also fun ways to really get the party started. These activities test the acting skills of friends.

But, if you want a more complex, in-depth and elaborate role-playing game, then you can try Dungeon and Dragons (DnD), a classic table top game that has now transitioned to virtual playing. Unofficial campaigns feature home-brewed storylines that were created by ‘Dungeon Masters”.

Campfire stories

If role playing games are too complex and troublesome, the old but classic sharing of ghost stories is still a viable option.

With the added element of the virtual space, the sharing of sound, ambience music can help with the overall feel of the story telling.

Movie Marathon

If telling ghost stories are cumbersome for your friends, Movie Marathons are a tried and tested way to spend the spooky season. Check your favorite streaming platforms for recently added horror and thriller movies in their October-November catalogue.

Budget-Friendly Tour in the City.

If  you’re up for some face to face adventure, a walk around the cityscape can be another great way to spend the weekend.
